How do I download an image?

It is easy.
Do you want to buy one image only? Than you don't have to worry about registration or buying credits. Just choose the image you want, click "Download" and there choose the payment method, fill in your email address, check "I agree with terms and conditions" and click "Buy and download now". After that you will be transfered to a payment page. After the payment is completed, you can download the image easily by clicking "Download". If you want to buy more images, it will be better for you to register first (for more info see section Registration). After that you have to buy credits (Buy credits) and than you just find the image you want. You can download it directly from the search result but there is only limited offer of sizes or from image details. After choosing the right size just click "Download" and download will start in a few seconds. After that the image will be open or saved into your computer.

What image size shall I choose?

It depends on for which purposes you want to use the image for.
If you want the image for displaying on a website (for example into your advertising banner), you can base the size on the resolution of the screen, the currently highest resolution is 1920x1200 pixels for full HD TV screens. You can use the image about 2Mpix to cover whole screen.
If you want to print your image, you can use our table in image details. Choose "inches" or "cm" from the menu "pixels / inches / cm" and you will see the sizes of the image suitable for printing in each Mpix size.

Can I see the image in its original size before I buy it?

Yes, it is possible for images from Pixmac collections and Celebrity images. Open its details and move your cursor over the image preview - the cursor will turn into small magnifying glass. After clicking, the image will zoom in. You can also move the image by pulling the cursor. You can close the preview by clicking the magnifying glass with minus in the top right corner of the image.

Will I get any invoice about buying credits?

Yes. You will find it in your "My account" section, in Purchased credits by each record. After opening you can print it or save into your computer.

I deleted a bought image by mistake, can I get it back?

Yes. If you buy the image once you can redownload it again without being charged again during 10 days after the purchase.

I have bought the image, credits were subtracted from my account but I was not able to download the image.

Most probably there were some technical problems during download. In such case please contact us and provide us with all useful information about that problem. If you got some error message, write it down, too. We will send you the image by email or give you your credits back.

I have bought an image but I am not satisfied with its quality.

Although we are trying to have the best possible quality of our images, it is possible that you will find some image which quality won't be perfect. In that case please contact us, we will refund your credits (you have to agree that you won't use the unsatisfying image and that you will delete it from your computer).

What are differences under your collections?

The Pixmac collection is compounded from images uploaded only by our photographers. We are trying hard to have the highest quality of images. All of them have uniform price and all of them offer Extended license, too (see When do I need Extended licence?). You can also preview each image in its original size and quality after clicking the image in its details (cursor will be showed as a small magnifying glass).
The Fotolia collection consists of images from our partner, we only resell them. Prices differ by photographers and it is not possible to view the image in original size.
The most different is the Celebrities (or Editorial) collection which is sold under its own bookmark. These images have different a license - not alike Pixmac and Fotolia collections it is not possible to use them for commercial purposes but only for your own usage (for example into your blog). Those images are also offered only in lower resolution.

What is royalty free license?

All our images from Pixmac and Fotolia collections are sold under a royalty free license. This license allows downloading image for a fee and using it without any other payments. You can also use the image more times than once. The most typical usage is for information brochures, business cards, on commercial websites, banners, into newspaper or magazines. You are only limited to 500 000 prints. You are not allowed to resell those images and use them for items for reselling - for example on T-shirts, mugs or as web templates. None of our images can be used contrary to our Terms and conditions (for example for pornography, racism etc.).

When do I need extended license?

1. If you want to print our image with more than 500 000 prints.
2. If you want to resell items with our images - for example on mugs, T-shirts, postcards or website templates.

Can I choose the image first and buy it later? Is there any shopping cart on Pixmac?

Pixmac doesn't have a classical shopping cart as you know it from other eshops. You can download each image individually with one click without putting it into a shopping cart and going through the time consuming payment process. You only have to be registered and have enough credits for downloading.
If you want to buy chosen images later, use our lightbox function (for more info see Lightbox questions). Images saved in the lightbox will be there until you delete them. You can also buy all images from the lightbox at once, you have to choose the right size and all images will download as zip file.
